I’d Prefer To See a Male Psychologist

It’s very important that you develop a therapeutic relationship with someone you feel comfortable talking to.  If you’d like to see a male psychologist, we recommend Dr Mark Milic in Surry Hills, he can be contacted on 0419 469 226. Alternately Simon Milton based  in the CBD at Mid City Psychology, he can be contacted via email at [email protected].

Do You Treat Children?

Currently CB Psychology treats adults and young adults age 18 and over.  We recommend Adriana Glusman who works in Wahroonga tel: 9487-7426.  Alternately, Sahra Behardien O’Doherty based in Leichhardt at Mindscape psychology and can be contacted via email at [email protected].

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Schema Therapy
  • Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Mindfulness
  • Narrative Therapy

We use an integrated approach to treatment, selecting the best and most appropriate approach for each individual.

What Happens In Our First Session?

Our first session is all about getting to know each other and understanding how I can help you. You will be asked to fill out some details and a couple of short questionnaires. I will explain your rights to confidentiality and my legal obligations as a registered psychologist. It’s important that we build a trusting therapeutic relationship.  You can share as much as you feel comfortable with.  It is helpful to gather as much information as possible to help you and to plan our work together.

How Long is a Session?

We will work together for  about 50 minutes.  We spend a few moments on payments and booking future sessions. I also reserve some time for taking session notes for your records.

Do I Need a Referral From a Doctor?

You do not need a doctor’s referral to see a psychologist.  You do not need to have been diagnosed with a mental health condition.  Anyone can get in contact  to make an appointment.

If you want to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need a Mental Health plan from a doctor.  Details about Medicare rebates and bulk billing are available here.

Do I Get Homework?

Yes, you may get homework. Don’t worry though. Homework might be as simple as keeping a thought diary, or practising mindfulness techniques. During our session we might review the outcome of your homework and talk about useful activities to work on next.
